According to Douglas County jail records as reported by Fox News, both Cooper and his girlfriend were placed under arrest last Friday for alleged domestic violence. The New York Post, citing court records, reported that a protection order was issued following two new charges filed after the initial arrest, which included felony strangulation.
“We are disappointed to learn of Jonathon Cooper’s arrest on Thursday and continue to review this matter,” said the Broncos in an official statement, per ESPN.
Having an on-and-off relationship for years, the couple was at the residence of Cooper when the girlfriend engaged in a confrontation regarding alleged infidelity by the Denver linebacker. Cooper’s phone was grabbed by the woman and then tossed at a wall; however, she ultimately picked it up again and went through it, according to TMZ, citing the arrest affidavit.
