The UFC champion, who has critcized Trump’s foreign policy, was at the viewing party on the Ellipse overlooking the White House when law enforcement swarmed and rushed him out of the area. The U.S. Park Police told TMZ that federal officers responded at approximately 7 p.m. after receiving a report of a disturbance they claim was caused by Strickland arriving to the event without an invitation. Officers allegedly became worried for Strickland’s safety after the crowd became disorderly, so they quickly ushered him back to his hotel.

The U.S. Park Police said he was told not to return for the sake of his own safety.

They asserted that Strickland was not cited or arrested, but the UFC champion had a very different perception of the unexpected turn of events.

Strickland posted several videos on Instagram, one of which seemed to be taken from the back of an agent’s vehicle. He told fans he was “pretty sure” he didn’t break any laws.

Trump hosted the first-ever UFC event at the White House. The Freedom 250 fights were held on the South Lawn.

Strickland has criticized Trump’s relationship with Israel, arguing this contradicts the “America First” agenda. “Man if Trump keeps this bs up I’m about to start waving a Palestinian flag,” he wrote on X in February 2025. “American cities are shitholes and you wanna go spend millions on this dumpster fire.. Did we make a mistake?! This ain’t America First..”

He also said he stopped backing Trump after the president ordered the bombing of Iran in 2025 in a June post. The UFC champion alleged that he was banned from the White House event, but CEO Dana White said that wasn’t the case June 9.
