Spencer Pratt’s Opponents Propose Dentists For Meth Heads, Ban On Backyard BBQs

Three candidates lead the Los Angeles mayoral race: former reality television star Spencer Pratt, incumbent Karen Bass, and Los Angeles city Councilwoman Nithya Raman.

Pratt says he’ll free Angelenos from the “open air drug zombies” who “commit multiple felonies every single day,” simply by enforcing the law. (RELATED: ‘We Aren’t Going To Solve Homelessness’: Inside LA’s Homeless Count)

Bass wants to give those zombies new teeth.

“How many people who are unhoused that you meet have no teeth at all? They don’t have teeth, why? Because meth rots your teeth. You can’t succeed without teeth. So, there needs to be comprehensive healthcare provided to people,” said Bass at a candidate forum held at Los Angeles’ Original Pantry Cafe.

It is probably pretty hard to succeed when you are actively addicted to meth. I’m not sure a new set of chompers is going to be enough to send meth addicts flying up the corporate ladder.

Raman has some questionable proposals of her own.

Raman introduced a motion Wednesday asking city officials to consider emergency restrictions on open outdoor fires during Red Flag Warning days, according to the New York Post. On these days, weather conditions lend themselves to wildfire combustion and rapid spread.

Raman’s motion “asks officials to consider possible limits on backyard barbecues, fire pits, and other open flames in residential neighborhoods,” reports the New York Post.

Pratt responded to Raman’s proposal Thursday by posting a video of himself smoking a brisket, presumably on the Fourth of July.

The text on the video reads, “HAPPY SMOKE 4th.” Pratt captioned the clip, “COME AND TAKE IT.”

Raman’s proposal would do little to make California safer. It would make the lives of law-abiding citizens a little worse, as do so many ideas proffered by California politicians.

As Noah Rothman of National Review notes, “In the last 20 years, most devastating wildfires in the Golden State have been attributed to lightning strikes that consume vast areas of poorly managed forest. Second to lightning strikes are fires sparked by faulty power lines and transformers — fires that achieved their scale as a result of the state’s poor forestry management.”

Rothman points out that the Palisades fire that burned down Pratt’s home in January 2025 was allegedly set by an “embittered anti-capitalist vigilante who was ‘angry at the world, particularly the rich,’ and who admired Luigi Mangione, the accused murderer of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson.” (RELATED: Democrat LA Mayor’s Far-Left Opponent Votes Against Cleaning Out Homeless Camps)

Pratt’s plan to clean up Los Angeles is probably a more effective means of preventing civilian-sparked fires. I doubt the junkies hanging out under highways and in tents are abiding by fire safety regulations.
