YMCA Camps Push Gender Identity Policies After Group Reportedly Scrubbed Content, Docs Show
A conservative organization warned that summer camps tied to the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) continue to list gender identity policies for campers and counselors.
After the American Parents Coalition (APC) warned parents about YMCA’s gender identity polices regarding cabins, locker rooms and showers in May 2025, the organization reportedly scrubbed much of their content tied to gender ideology, the Daily Wire previously reported. The organization released a “Lookout” on their website Tuesday arguing that the National Council of Young Men’s Christian Associations (Y-USA), the YMCA’s national govering body, had “embedded gender ideology into its national infrastructure.” (RELATED: Trailblazing Trans Lawmaker Sentenced To Over 33 Years For Child Exploitation)
YMCA chapters run multiple overnight summer camps across the country for kids. Multiple U.S.-based camps feature trans or gender-based policies, according to documents shared with the Daily Caller. Camp Olson’s policy in Minnesota , “Trans* individuals may select either restroom.”
The Camp Olson policy document also reads, “Each cabin is assigned at least two staff, and Camp Olson strives to keep an appropriate adult ratio in each cabin that corresponds to the gender identities of the residing campers. At least one of those staff’s gender will correspond to the gender identities of the campers who will stay there.”
Camp Letts’ handbook in Maryland , “Cabins at Camp Letts are assigned to a camper based on the gender with which a camper identifies as on the Campbrain registration portal.” If the camper claims they are non-binary or transgender, leadership will coordinate “on a case-by-case basis to ensure a cabin assignment that is most amenable to the camper and their family,” according to document.
Sherman Lake Camp in Michigan features an “all-gender cabin” for camp counselors, according to its website “Counselors are asked prior to the camping season which cabins they are comfortable leading and sleeping in, just like campers.”

YMCA also features a Pride Camp in Pennsylvania that provides a “non-gendered village” for campers, according to its website.
“As we enter into another summer camp season, YMCA camps across the country are still allowing males into girls’ cabins, showers, and private spaces,” Alleigh Marré, executive director of American Parents Coalition, said. “The dedication to embracing and promoting transgender ideology continues to be a priority.”
YMCA claims it “does not have a nationwide policy around locker room and bathroom facilities,” according to the APC’s “Lookout.” The APC alleged that the Y-USA provided guidelines on how to provide a “Safe Space for LGBTQ+ Campers.” However, the link to this policy does not appear to be current.
According to a Y-USA activities ending Dec. 31, 2025, the organization received $5.3 million in federal grants from various government agencies.

The Y-USA did not respond immediately to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
