Florida: 1 Woman Dead After 3 Alligator Interactions Get Violent In Span Of Week

In the span of one week, a total of three people in Central Florida have fallen victim to alligator attacks, with one of the incidents resulting in a death.

The original attack took place June 21 after a man made contact with a gator while at Marion County’s Rainbow River, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) per FOX Weather.

Following the attack, the victim was sent to a local hospital to receive treatment and has been released since then. (RELATED: Sewage Spill Kills 44,000 Fish In Chattahoochee River, Report Finds)

Later, the eight-foot-plus alligator was trapped and removed by officials.

The second attack happened June 27 after a report was made to the FWC regarding a child being bitten by an alligator on the hand. The kid was fishing in Marion County from the Nelson Fish Camp shore.

The child received treatment after being transported to a hospital.

According to authorities, the alligator was ultimately trapped. It was also more than eight feet.

The third attack occurred June 28 in the Little Big Econ State Forest on the Econlockhatchee River, resulting in a response from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and FWC.

The woman was bitten while she was in the river swimming, suffering severe injuries as a result, per the FWC.

She was sent to a local hospital, later dying from her injuries.

Issuing a response to the scene were numerous agencies, as well as an alligator trapper. Efforts to trap the animal are still underway.
