Conservative Writer Calls Out Media After Amazon Fails To Explain Why It Delisted Popular Book
Conservative author and analyst Mark Dice shared his doubts about Amazon’s narrative explaining why his best-selling book was pulled and called out conservative media for its general lack of response to the delisting of his book.
After restoring Dice’s book, “The War on Conservatives,” following a Daily Caller inquiry, Amazon told the Caller on Monday that “this title was removed in error.” The company has since declined to offer any additional context for how an error could account for not only the delisting of a 2023 book but also the denial of two separate appeals. “Quite frankly, they’re full of shit,” Dice told the Caller in a follow-up.
“If Amazon removed the book because of an ‘error,’ that error would have been remedied with my initial appeal,” Dice continued. He added that his book had garnered thousands of positive ratings and hundreds of written reviews since its publication, which had also been deleted and then restored, and reached the No. 4 spot on the site’s overall best-seller list.
Dice said that Amazon’s rejection of the first appeal claimed the book had violated the conglomerate’s “content policies,” while the second appeal suggested that the book “might result in a disappointing customer experience.”
Dice denied those claims, telling the Caller that not only was the book well received, but it also had a clear purpose to speak dialogue and had extensive sourcing supporting its conclusions.
“It’s clear that the book came to someone’s attention at Amazon, and they made a politically motivated decision to censor it because they personally opposed the book’s arguments and the author’s ideology,” Dice said. “Once the Daily Caller reached out for comment, Amazon scrambled to avoid what they knew would be negative press about such an outrageous act of censorship and made up the bogus claim that it was all just an ‘error,’ hoping it would get swept under the rug.”

Dice said that is almost what happened.
“I reached out directly to numerous reporters, editors, and media outlets throughout conservative media, many of whom know who I am and follow me on X. Considering that Amazon banned a bestselling conservative book, I expected this to become a much bigger story,” Dice said, adding that he was extremely disappointed that “with the exception of the Daily Caller virtually no conservative media outlets expressed any interest in the story or even responded to the press release” he sent detailing what had happened.
Dice said the lack of response is likely due to him taking a more independent approach, often choosing YouTube or self-publishing over operating within the ecosystem of any major conservative media organizations.
“Despite having one of the largest independent platforms and subscriber bases in conservative media and reaching millions of people over the years, there seems to be little interest when censorship happens to someone outside their own corporate circle,” he said.
Dice said censorship of this scale, especially by big tech and social media companies that have a history of repressing conservative thought, should be called out even if it doesn’t affect one of the major brands.
“If conservative media is serious about fighting back against censorship,” Dice concluded, “that principle should apply regardless of whether the target works for a major network or is an independent creator.”
