‘The View’ Co-Hosts Wade Into Sports, Stick Up For Other Countries Over America

The short-staffed co-hosts of ‘The View’ briefly delved into sports at the end of a segment Monday, and took aim at America’s optics on the world stage after President Donald Trump called in a favor to FIFA in an effort to un-suspend an American player.

A “Red card is a red card is a red card,” co-host Sunny Hostin stated on the Monday episode of ‘The View,’ which sparked a short segment before the end of the show. One of the other hosts, former Trump administration official-turned-Trump-critic Alyssa Farah Griffin, said that the one instance of “Trump corruption [she] agreed with was the red card” — she went on to argue that “if you’re going to call in a favor, do it so you can get one of the greatest players back on, it should have been a yellow card.”

The player the co-hosts were discussing is U.S. Men’s Soccer star Folarin Balogun, who received a red card for a foul during a match against Bosnia-Herzegovina, which, under FIFA regulations, bars him from playing in the next game.

President Trump reached out to FIFA officials, and they overturned the decision, allowing Balogun to compete in the U.S. match against Belgium. (RELATED: Europeans Prove They’re Whiny, Entitled Brats After Officials Reverse US Star’s Punishment)

Hostin noted that she was in Spain as the news broke about the success of Trump’s attempt at reversal and remarked how Europeans are saying things along the lines of “I can’t believe America is so corrupt,” to which Hostin rhetorically replied, “Have you met the Trump administration?” — which garnered applause from the other co-hosts and the audience on live TV.

The View is currently down three of its six co-hosts; one of the missing members, Trump critic and former Republican strategist Ana Navarro, was unable to get to New York for today’s episode due to travel and airline troubles, she said in an Instagram post. (RELATED: ‘The View’ Co-Host Gives Sunny Hostin Reality Check Over Her False Accusation About Trump)

“I’m sorry I won’t be there tomorrow. I’m sure the other ladies will have great, insightful things to say,” Navarro concluded. “We are going to bed because we are beat and exhausted. Take a little time to enjoy ‘The View’without me.”
