‘Locked And Loaded’: Trump Says US Will ‘Destroy All Areas Of Iran’ In The Event He’s Assassinated By Regime
President Donald Trump warned that the U.S. military would flatten Iran if its government tries to assassinate him.
Trump laid out the threat late Friday on Truth Social. “1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands of more to immediately follow, should the Iranian Government act on its threat, pronounced in many corners of the Globe, to assassinate, or attempt to assassinate, the sitting President of the United States of America, in this case, ME!” he wrote. The president said he had already given the orders, vowing in the same post “to completely decimate and destroy all areas of Iran.”
The post landed a day after the Wall Street Journal reported that Israel had shared intelligence with U.S. officials about a new Iranian plan to kill him. That warning helped drive a decision to move Trump to an older, better-protected Air Force One as he returned from a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Fox News reported. Trump brushed off the reported plot in an interview with the New York Post. “No, no, Israel came up with nothing,” he told the outlet, adding that he has sat atop Iran’s target list for years. He said he has left orders for a crushing response should anyone succeed. “The only thing is, I’ve left instructions — if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before,” Trump told the Post.

Iran’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, promised retaliation in a written statement Saturday, the New York Post reported. “We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers,” Khamenei said, according to the Post. Crowds carried signs reading “WE WILL KILL TRUMP” and chanted threats against the president during funeral events, the Washington Examiner reported.
Tehran has wanted Trump dead since 2020, when he ordered the strike that killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Gen. Qasem Soleimani, according to the New York Post. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Iran directed both attempts on Trump’s life during the 2024 campaign, the Washington Examiner reported. Longtime supreme leader Ali Khamenei died Feb. 28 in the opening strikes of the war and was buried July 9 in Mashhad, the Washington Examiner and Israeli outlet the Jerusalem Post reported. His son and successor has avoided public view since the same strike left him wounded, the Jerusalem Post reported.
Trump has called the U.S. ceasefire with Iran over after Tehran hit commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, and American forces have resumed strikes, according to CNN. The Treasury Department sanctioned Iranian financial facilitator Ali Ansari on Friday, saying he runs a network that benefits Mojtaba Khamenei and other regime elites, CNN reported.
