‘Dancing With The Stars’ Alum Accuses Ex Of Abducting Their Children

Savchenko alleged that his ex-wife Elena Samodanova took their two daughters, Olivia and Zlata, to Hong Kong in 2023 for what was supposed to be a temporary move to accommodate her work in the region. Savenchenko claimed their children were supposed to return to the United States by June 30, 2024, but Samodanova refuses to send them back, according to TMZ.

Savchenko’s court filing alleged that Samodanova signed a post-judgment agreement in 2023 allowing the “temporary” move, but has since enrolled them in a private school, gotten engaged to another man, and had a child with him, according to TMZ. The “Dancing With The Stars” alum claimed this was all part of Samodanova’s plan to keep their children in Hong Kong without consent.
“This has functionally forced me to travel to Hong Kong each year to visit my children, which I have consistently done despite Elena’s efforts taken to drastically limit my access to our daughters,” he said, according to TMZ.
The popular dancer claimed his ex-wife took their children to Moscow and Vietnam against his wishes, citing concern that they were traveling in a war-torn region. He claimed Samodanova traveled with their children by bus for 20 hours to a small village in Moscow without allowing them to use their cell phones, according to TMZ. Savchenko requested “temporary sole legal and sole physical custody” of 15-year-old daughter Olivia, with no visitation from his ex-wife, pending a scheduled hearing. He claimed Olivia is currently with him in Los Angeles and doesn’t want to return to her mother.

“Olivia does not want to be in the position of having to confront her mother considering Elena’s recent abusive comments to our daughter, including that she is a ‘disgrace’ to the family and other disparaging comments,” Savchenko said in a statement, according to TMZ.
He fears that if his daughter were to be sent back to Hong Kong, it would “result in an international wrongful retention/abduction of Olivia.”

Savchenko didn’t specifically request a custody order for his 8-year-old daughter, Zlata, according to the outlet.
A court-ordered mediation to discuss child custody has been scheduled for August 5, and a formal hearing is expected to follow.
