TAKE A PEAK INTO THE ELITE ABYSS

Every now and then, instead of reading a bunch of newsletters and copy, then formulating a coherent and original idea for the day, I’ll just pop on X’s trending list and see what I think is the most insane news item.

Turns out that today, it’s just X’s trending list.

Americans care about almost none of this, fyi. They might find it amusing/enraging and comment about it on various social media if they see it in their feeds, but it’s not preeminent in their minds.

Polling still shows the economy, affordability, health care, and immigration are still the top issues.

But in the elite bizarro world, these items (along with Musk’s hilarious interview with the Economist) are likely to dominate the political commentariat, which is, to put it mildly, too online and thus too divorced from reality.

First up we have an Associated Press (AP) story about Nepalese ladyboy prostitutes no longer getting free condoms and lube from American taxpayers because Musk is mean or something. That’s literally the story. It’s gross. AP thinks you should care about it.

Some cross-section of AP readership probably does, but it’s likely comprised of confused coeds, feminists and folks at condom NGOs that got their funding cut.

Then we have the USA TODAY lady who said Caitlin Clark’s complaints about WNBA refs are pretty much the same as lynching, and she’s putting black lives in danger by expecting basic civility to be upheld in sports.

Right along with Clark, we have Sophie Cunningham, who the New York Times reports is “doubling down” on the idea that men should not play in women’s sports.

There was even a video of her enduring a struggle session in front of the media, who consistently refuse to accept reality on this topic.

Sophie’s is not a controversial take. ~70% of America agrees with her. It’s just that the majority of the media elite reside firmly in the other 30%.

Then we’ve got a rare closed-question headline in which the answer is “Yes.”

Yes, they are. Is this even a question? Therapists are almost always as damaged as their clients. Also, the schools that credential them inculcate them with unreality at best, and at worst, neo-Marxist unreality.

Of course, they’re telling kids to abandon their families. That’s what damaged, cultish Marxists do. Read a book.

Also, therapy is fake. Especially for men. You want to do therapy for men? Give them an ax, a team of other men, and a bunch of trees to cut down. Then give him a steak, a few ice colds, maybe a bourbon and some primo tobacco. Repeat that for a few days, ten hours a day, and most men will be fine.

You want therapy for a woman? Give her a strong man and a bunch of kids.

This is the state of elite discourse today. Thank God it’s Friday indeed.
