Former UFC Star Anthony Smith Accused Of Trying To Run Wife Over With Car

Police arrested former UFC star Anthony Smith after he allegedly threatened to kill his wife, forced her into his car, then tried to run her over.

The Sarpy County Attorney’s Office said prosecutors alleged the couple got into a heated argument at a Nebraska bar July 26, and Smith threatened to kill his wife, Mikhala, if she didn’t go home with him, according to WBAL-TV.

They allege that he grabbed and pushed his wife into the car, and she managed to exit when they reached their home. Smith allegedly reversed the car in an attempt to strike his wife, then accelerated when she was in front of his vehicle, according to WBAL-TV. Prosecutors claimed Mikhala jumped out of the way.

Witnesses reportedly attempted to help Mikhala and her children leave the home when Smith went inside.

Moments later, gunshots were reportedly heard from inside the home.

Prosecutors alleged that Smith said he would kill himself if police entered, according to WBAL-TV.

Police issued a warrant for Smith’s arrest Thursday, and he turned himself in hours later, according to TMZ.

Police charged Smith with domestic assault causing serious bodily injury, first-degree false imprisonment, and terroristic threats. The three felony charges could result in up to 26 years behind bars, according to TMZ.

WBAL-TV reported that Smith waived his preliminary hearing and is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 17.
