Declassified Docs Reveal Infamous County Was Hacked, With Thousands of Voter Files Obtained, During 2020

New documents declassified by the Trump administration show that hundreds of thousands of voter files were obtained from Maricopa County, Arizona, during the 2020 election, the Daily Caller learned.

An administration official briefed reporters on the new documents, which show that during the 2020 election, 633,000 voter registration files were obtained through the Maricopa County Registrar Office website. Of those files, 930 contained sensitive voter data, which included information about domestic violence victims, judges, and law enforcement officers, the official shared. Another official shared with the Caller that they don’t have evidence President Donald Trump was ever briefed on the findings, though they are continuing to search for such.

“The FBI spent significant resources solving this cybercrime. The attorney’s office for the District of Arizona declined under the Joe Biden Justice Department to bring charges. The Arizona Attorney General’s office declined to bring charges,” one administration official told reporters. “The Maricopa County District Attorney’s Office declined to bring child charges; the Pinal County, Arizona District Attorney’s Office also, when presented the evidence, declined prosecution.”

The FBI tried until 2023 to get someone to prosecute the case, the official added.

The suspect appeared to be a hobbyist hacker, according to the official, who noticed vulnerabilities in the site for a while. He admitted to the crime, other documents show.

The hacker did not obtain any ballots, and he claims he did not edit any information, the official told reporters.

Trump gave a rare primetime address on July 16 to unveil newly declassified documents he claimed prove China interfered in the 2020 presidential election. During the address, the president accused China of compromising the voter files of 220 million Americans, impacting numerous states. Trump also revealed that the “deep state” intelligence community hid the evidence from him and President Joe Biden.

Despite the news, the president told the Daily Caller that he would talk to China about the documents during the state visit in September, but he believes the country has changed.

“Well, we’re going to talk to them about it. It took place a long time ago. I think China is maybe a little bit different today than it was then,” Trump said.

“But look, they do things, and we do things to them, I’ll be honest, we do things to them too, it’s not a one-way-street, but we’ll be talking to them,” he added.
