Rising Golf Star Jessica Bang Dead At 18 After Brain Hemorrhage While Playing In Thailand Tournament

An 18-year-old professional golfer is dead after she suffered a brain hemorrhage while playing in a tournament.

While competing in the KLPGA Tour’s International Qualifying Tournament, which took place Aug. 1 in Thailand, Jessica Bang collapsed and was transported to Synphaet Ramintra Hospital in Bangkok, where she received emergency brain surgery.

However, according to a GoFundMe announcement from her family, Bang passed away in the hospital Aug. 13 at 7:20 a.m. local time. (RELATED: Former PGA Golfer Matt McQuillan Dies Suddenly At 45)

“We are truly heartbroken by this news. However, we would like to continue to remember Jessica and celebrate her achievements, passion, and dedication to golf,” read the GoFundMe, which is operated by Bang’s cousins.

“As her cousins, we will forever cherish the time and memories we shared with Jessica. Her sense of humour, together with her cheerful and vibrant personality, will always be remembered and treasured by our family.”

According to the GoFundMe, the money will be used for Bang’s medical expenses.

“The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the WPGA Tour of Australasia and the broader Australian golf community are with Jessica’s family, friends and all those who knew and loved her at this incredibly difficult time,” said the WPGA Tour of Australasia in an official statement, per Fox News.

Born in South Korea, Bang was put on life support following her surgery.

In Nov. 2025, Bang was victorious in her fifth professional tournament, recording a final-round score of 65 at Moss Vale’s 2026 Ford Women’s NSW Open Regional Qualifying Event. Setting a course record, Bang won by five strokes. Bang was also the winner of the Queensland Amateur.
