Texans’ Receiving Corps Takes Huge Hit With Jayden Higgins Out For Season After Torn ACL: REPORT

Houston, we have a problem.

The injury, which ended Higgins’ 2026 season prematurely, took place Tuesday in the joint practice between the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders when the wideout was running a route in the end zone and ended up taking an awkward fall. Houston and Vegas were in the middle of red zone 11-on-11 drills.

Higgins wasn’t able to immediately get back up, but ultimately limped off the field under his own power. Following practice, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans stated that Higgins’ injury is being evaluated to see how severe it is.

Not only do I feel for the Texans, because man, this is such a blow, but I feel for Jayden Higgins himself.

In his rookie year last season, Higgins was a solid contributor with 525 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 10 starts. And judging by how training camp was going, which was pretty damn good, you know those numbers were going to increase. Easily.

That’s football though, and the Texans are now going to need more production from wide receivers Tank Dell, Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson.

Right off the bat, Dell and Noel make me nervous because they’re both recovering from injuries, which brings me to Hutchinson. He’s coming off a career-year with 428 yards and three touchdowns off 35 receptions. Yeah, he might not completely replace Higgins, but you have to focus in on him in terms of a “replacement,” correct?

I’m quite curious to see how Coach Ryans responds to this situation, because it’s a tough one.
