Trump Admin To Rescind 200,000 Visas In Largest Mass Revocation Ever: REPORT

The Trump administration plans to revoke over 200,000 tourism and business visas for foreigners seeking asylum in the United States, the AP reported Monday.

The State Department will soon announce the revocation of B1 and B2 visas issued between 2016 and 2026 for individuals who previously were or are currently seeking asylum, according to the AP, which cited government documents. The State Department will reportedly work alongside the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to implement the revocations.

“We are coordinating with DHS to identify and revoke the nonimmigrant visas of foreigners who have come to the United States claiming to be short-term visitors, but then file for asylum to stay here permanently,” State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott told the AP. The AP noted that this would be the largest mass visa revocation in U.S. history and would likely face legal challenges.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau wrote in a lengthy X post Monday that Americans are “fed up” with fake asylum claims, stating that the system has “long been swamped by frivolous asylum claims,” creating years of lead time for applicants during which foreigners can “otherwise put down roots in our country.”

Landau cited the case of Colombian national Humberto Coral as a prime example of this abuse. Coral came to the United States on a tourist visa in 2015 and applied for asylum just before its expiration, later receiving a work permit from the Obama administration which he renewed for a decade. Landau wrote that Coral spent his time in the United States “shilling for Colombia’s far-left government” and accusing the American government of “putting people in concentration camps.”

The State Department did not immediately respond to The Daily Caller’s request for comment.
