Commanders’ Jayden Daniels Suffers Dislocated Elbow To Deflate Fantasy Football Teams Everywhere

Noooo! Not my QB1!

Jayden Daniels, the star quarterback of the Washington Commanders and my Miami Sharks fantasy football team, had to be carted off the field Sunday during a 37-20 defeat to the Dallas Cowboys after suffering a dislocated left elbow on the last play of the first half. (Because of course it was the last play.) (RELATED: Jeremiah Smith Breaks Ohio State’s Career Receiving Yardage Record To Solidify Himself As Potential No. 1 Draft Pick)

After the game, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said that X-rays revealed no fracture, and that more imaging tests would be run Monday on Daniels.

It appeared that Daniels’ foot was stepped on by left guard Chris Paul as the former LSU Tiger took the snap on the 1-yard line in a third-and-goal situation. When Daniels fell, he attempted to brace himself using his left elbow, and … well … take a look for yourself.

And if you’re wondering, because I certainly was, it looks like Jayden Daniels will be out for about a month. At least we think — I’ll get to that momentarily.

My fantasy football team had a huge victory Sunday, but it’s quite bittersweet with my quarterback getting injured, so I have to ask the Commanders: What the hell were we doing out there?

If you’re going to pass in this particular situation, you line up in the shotgun, let Jayden read the field, and throw it away instantly if the first window isn’t there. Putting him directly under center on a congested 1-yard line only invites disaster. And the fact that the whole thing was triggered by his own offensive lineman just makes it that much worse.

It was a freak accident, sure, but completely avoidable with smarter situational football, and now my fantasy team has to suffer because of pure boneheadedness.

What worries me the most is that Daniels’ injured elbow is the exact same one he dislocated in the 2025 season against the Seattle Seahawks. When an athlete dislocates a major joint once, the joint capsule and ligaments are stretched; do it a second time within a calendar year, and the conversation rapidly shifts from “he’ll miss a month in a brace” to season-altering surgical repair.

Here’s hoping the Monday MRI brings a miracle, because looking at my league’s waiver wire … yikes.
