The new lines, approved by Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the GOP-controlled legislature, consolidated Democratic strongholds in South Florida and elsewhere, leaving Democrats one solidly safe seat. The new map shifted Florida’s congressional delegation balance further toward Republicans, potentially moving the state from a 20-8 Republican advantage to as many as 24-4. Several Democratic-held districts were redrawn to include more Republican voters or were split in ways that made them competitive.
