Rockets’ Steven Adams Makes Prediction That Athletes’ Performances Will Take Hit When Grand Theft Auto VI Comes Out

“Look at the NFL, look at all the leagues, and watch them plummet. Just for the month of November, performance is gonna go down,” said Adams while recently speaking with reporters.

Adams made the prediction, however, that things won’t last long because of the athletes’ top-tier dedication to completing GTA VI’s story mode.

“It should come back up, though. Most of the boys will get it done. Hopefully they finish the game [in a month],” said Adams.

Now, casual fans might laugh this off as classic Steven Adams dry humor, but anyone who has paid attention to pro sports locker rooms over the last decade knows he’s dead serious.

We’re talking about an entire generation of athletes who grew up glued to consoles, routinely travel with custom Pelican cases housing portable gaming rigs, and stream on Twitch in their downtime.

We already have real-world precedent for this madness. Remember the running jokes—and borderline statistically backed theories—about NFL players slumping every time a new Call of Duty drops or a Double XP weekend hits?

That’s child’s play compared to what’s coming … you’ve been warned, ladies and gentlemen.
