The former first lady released her memoir on Tuesday detailing her time in the White House with former President Joe Biden. On the morning of the Oct. 7 attack in the Middle East, the former first lady writes that an aide texted her asking if her husband was awake because he needed to jump on a call with the National Security Council. \u201cThen, very early on the morning of Saturday, October 7, 2023, I was grading midterms when the staff texted me and asked if Joe was up yet \u2013 he had to get on the phone with the National Security Council,\u201d Biden writes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI turned on the news and saw what was happening. Hamas had viciously killed, raped, and burned innocent Israeli civilians,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

The former first lady has been on a media tour to discuss her book which has generated headlines regarding her husband\u2019s health while he held office. In her first interview with CBS News, Biden told the outlet that she thought her husband was having a stroke during his disastrous 2024 presidential debate. Biden has continued to do media to clear up why she had her husband continue on the campaign trail despite thinking he had a stroke during the presidential debate.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut publicly, of course, you said that he did well, you cheered him on that evening. What do you say to people who today wonder if you thought that then, that something, a medical episode had happened. Did you recommend that he go? Did you recommend that he go to a doctor?\u201d MSNBC\u2019s Morning Joe host asked the former first lady about the moments after the 2024 debate.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a team of doctors around me as first lady. Joe had a team of doctors around him. So, when I saw that, and I was frightened, I was, you know, scared to death to see that, and, but the doctors were there,\u201d the former first lady stated. She noted that her husband believed he had messed up when he exited the stage.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then we got off the stage, and you know, I went to get my stuff. He was checked out by the doctors. They said he\u2019s fine. We went on to do three more events that night and Joe was like he always was, and so to me, as I look back, I mean that was so inexplicable. I just to this day it\u2019s just inexplicable,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

The former first lady has also said that she did not believe her husband was in any way protected or hidden from the American people while working in the White House.<\/p>\n

\u201cReally, if we were hiding him behind the scenes, why did we ask the Trump team for the debate? I mean, we were the ones that proposed it, like, if we, if that were true, you know, why did we put him out there?\u201d Jill Biden told MSNBC.<\/p>\n
