People who are still trapped [at CBS].\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The interview came five days after Pelley exploded at the newly installed executive producer of \u201c60 Minutes,\u201d Nick Bilton, during the latter\u2019s introductory remarks at a staff meeting. Pelley reportedly went on to accuse the Editor-in-Chief of CBS News, Bari Weiss, of \u201cmurdering\u201d the \u201c60 Minutes\u201d program \u201cand questioned Bilton\u2019s qualifications for the executive-producer role,\u201d according to the <\/span><span>Wall Street Journal<\/span><span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Pelley\u2019s termination is one in a long list of former <\/span><span>CBS<\/span><span> News correspondents and executives who have either resigned or been fired from CBS in the last weeks and months. <b>(RELATED: INGERSOLL: A Head Rolls At CBS, And The Long Liberal Death March Continues)<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the interview, Pelley relitigates the last year of CBS News under <\/span><span>Weiss<\/span><span>, accusing the broadcaster\u2019s editor-in-chief of \u201cputting a thumb on the scale on behalf of the Administration\u201d regarding how she directed coverage of the anti-ICE protests in <\/span><span>Minnesota<\/span><span> earlier this year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p><span>When asked to explain in further detail the days leading up to his termination, Pelley claims that the entire \u201c60 Minutes\u201d team was already on edge because of the recent shake-ups in the show\u2019s senior members. Knowing it was an \u201cexistential moment\u201d for the program, he canceled a vacation with his wife to show up to Bilton\u2019s first meeting.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In a moment Pelley described as \u201cjaw-dropping,\u201d Bilton pulled out his phone to read a prepared statement. At that point, Pelley interrupted Bilton\u2019s remarks and proceeded to question Bilton\u2019s qualifications as executive producer, and accused Bari Weiss of \u201cmurdering\u201d the \u201c60 Minutes\u201d program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hometransferguide.com\/?p=1340\">Congress Passing Legislation At Historically Low Clip<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>When asked why he chose to confront Bilton in public, Pelley countered that it wasn\u2019t in public, because he was \u201cwith family,\u201d referring to his CBS colleagues. \u201cNone of this was meant to be public,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_3 --> <\/p>\n<p><span>Defending his actions, Pelley claimed that he was defending his colleagues, as the most senior member in the room, \u201conly I could do it. None of them could be asked to take that risk.\u201d Whatever he said must have been moving, because he recalled that the meeting \u201cended in thunderous applause for me, if I may say so.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The leadership at CBS News apparently didn\u2019t agree, because they called him in for a meeting shortly after. This meeting included Bari Weiss and CBS Executive Editor Tom Cibrowski; Pelley explains that he didn\u2019t believe the meeting could have possibly ended in his being fired, saying it was \u201cthe furthest thing\u201d from his mind. After what he characterized as a \u201chostile\u201d and \u201cdismissive\u201d meeting with CBS News leadership, Pelley described meeting a crowd of coworkers standing outside of his office. \u201cIt hit me,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is a vigil.\u201d Shortly thereafter, he was fired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>When asked about his hopes for the future of the broadcaster, Pelley stated he hopes there is \u201ca return to sanity,\u201d alleging \u201cthere is a subtle political bias\u201d that he claims to have \u201cnever seen\u201d at CBS News.<br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere is no democracy without journalism.
