A Washington state sheriff\u2019s office is investigating the alleged inclusion of testosterone vials in a Pride Month display in a school hallway in Graham.<\/p>\n

Pierce County Sheriff\u2019s Office (PCSO) deputies were sent Monday to Graham-Kapowsin High School to investigate allegations of a \u201ccontrolled substance\u201d on display at the campus, according to a press release obtained by the Daily Caller. Images of the alleged testosterone vials sparked backlash online, and the school district alleged they identified those responsible.<\/p>\n

\u201cMultiple inquiries were received regarding vials of testosterone that had been placed as part of a Pride display in a school hallway. Several of the vials appeared to contain remaining liquid,\u201d the press release read.<\/p>\n

\u201cUpon arrival, deputies were informed by school administrators that they had recently become aware of the vials,\u201d the PCSO continued. \u201cSchool staff stated they were unaware the testosterone vials had been added to the display and had not authorized their placement.\u201d<\/p>\n

School administrators also identified the student who put the vials in the display, the agency alleged. \u201cTestosterone is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance under federal law due to its potential for abuse and dependence,\u201d the press release added. The deputies removed the vials and retained them for evidence in the ongoing investigation, according to the PCSO.<\/p>\n

Journalist Brandi Kruse posted pictures she said showed the pride display Friday on X. One image focused on a clear container that appeared to hold numerous testosterone vials.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cOH. MY. LORD. We were just sent images of the Pride display at Washington\u2019s Graham-Kapowsin High School,\u201d Kruse wrote. \u201cIt contains vials of testosterone injections.\u201d<\/p>\n

The display also appeared to include rainbow d\u00e9cor as well as books like \u201cPink, Blue, and You!\u201d and Dolly Parton\u2019s \u201cI Am a Rainbow,\u201d according to imagery posted by Kruse.<\/p>\n

Sheriff Keith Swank responded to Kruse\u2019s post Friday on his personal account. \u201cPierce County Sheriff\u2019s Office will be investigating this,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

Kruse responded to the sheriff by alleging that the vials appeared to be empty except for the one positioned outside the bin.<\/p>\n

Bethel School District (BSD) Director of Communications Douglas Boyles told Fox News Digital the display of the vials was \u201centirely unauthorized.\u201d The BSD oversees Graham-Kapowskin High School.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were made aware of a display at Graham-Kapowsin High School that included empty vials of testosterone as one of its visuals,\u201d Boyles said. \u201cThe display also contained some vials that still contained a small amount of unknown liquid.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAdministrators have removed the vials and identified the individuals responsible for adding them without leadership approval,\u201d he added, emphasizing that the district was \u201cactively reviewing our display oversight protocols.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur primary focus remains on maintaining a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment for all of our students,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The BSD did not respond to the Caller\u2019s request for comment in time for publication.<\/p>\n

X users responded to Kruse\u2019s post by blasting the alleged display of the vials.<\/p>\n

\u201cPromoting this on a school campus to minors is beyond reprehensible-it\u2019s criminal. ENOUGH!!\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cMasculinizing hormone therapy,\u201d or sex change therapy, uses testosterone to help people develop male sex characteristics like a lower-pitched voice, increased muscle mass or growth of facial hair, according to the Mayo Clinic. Testosterone vials are injected into muscle so the hormone can be absorbed into the bloodstream.<\/p>\n

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) divides drugs into five different categories or \u201cschedules\u201d based on a drug\u2019s acceptable uses and its potential for abuse or dependency. Schedule III drugs like testosterone have \u201ca moderate to low potential for physical and psychological dependence,\u201d according to the DEA\u2019s official webpage.<\/p>\n
