Sports fans face enough heartbreak watching their favorite team, but some franchises have added to it by getting mixed-up in off-field issues that take aim at their fans.<\/p>\n

While many focused on which teams have elected to celebrate Pride Month, a few other teams decided Friday to place our Second Amendment rights in their crosshairs by going along with Everytown\u2019s \u201cNational Gun Violence Awareness Day,\u201d which encouraged people to wear orange. The Chicago White Sox and Philadelphia Eagles were among the teams to take part in this campaign. Now, both the White Sox and Eagles have broken their fans\u2019 hearts in recent years. For the Eagles, it was getting bounced on their homefield from the playoffs last season, while the White Sox lost 100 games (or more) for the past three seasons.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Now both have slapped a decent-sized portion of their fanbase in the face by appeasing a gun-control group in an event intended to boost support for anti-Second Amendment legislation. Sadly, they are not the only ones.<\/p>\n

In a Friday release, Everytown boasted that several teams elected to participate in the campaign this year, but they don\u2019t quite tell the whole story. It turns out that they gathered teams from every major professional sports league \u2013 we\u2019re not just talking about baseball and football, but there\u2019s the NBA, WNBA, NHL and soccer leagues (men\u2019s and women\u2019s).<\/p>\n

\u201cWear Orange is teaming up with the professional sports community once again, with expected support from teams representing every major professional league and dozens of individual athletes,\u201d Everytown wrote in the announcement.<\/p>\n

These teams should stick to what they do best: playing sports. Leave the politics at the ticketing gates.<\/p>\n
