The two had a brief dispute, with Metcalf asking Anthony, who was from a different school, to leave his team\u2019s tent. Anthony reached into his backpack and pulled out a knife before fatally stabbing Metcalf, who died in his twin brother\u2019s arms. <strong>(RELATED: DUKE: Karmelo Anthony Defense Team Waves White Flag After Disastrous String Of Witnesses)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p>The brutality of\u00a0 the stabbing sparked outrage across the country, drawing national attention after Anthony claimed to have attacked Metcalf in self-defense.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple witnesses in the tent where Metcalf was stabbed testified for the prosecution that Anthony refused repeated requests to leave and escalated the dispute.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_3 --> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cKarmelo put his hand in the bag and said five times, \u2018Touch me and see what happens.\u2019 Austin said he\u2019s not going to touch this guy. He was calm,\u201d one witness recounted.<\/p>\n<p>A key witness for the defense struggled on the stand. After originally claiming Anthony was surrounded by students prior to the stabbing \u2014 suggesting he acted in self-defense \u2014 video evidence showed the witness had his back turned to the tent during the incident and could not have seen what was happening.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hometransferguide.com\/?p=1468\">Key Congressional Committee Reveals Extensive Waste In US Military Spending<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know you\u2019re wrong?\u201d the prosecution asked the witness during cross-examination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, sir,\u201d the defense\u2019s witness replied.<\/p>\n<p>During closing arguments, the prosecution spoke directly to the jury, saying, \u201cIf you think Metcalf impaled himself on Anthony\u2019s knife, find him guilty of manslaughter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not self defense folks,\u201d the prosecution added. \u201cIt\u2019s murder. Murder. Plain and simple.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anthony is facing between five and 99 years in prison, according to Daily Mail reporter MaryAnn Martinez, who has been covering the trial. Jurors deliberated for less than four hours before reaching their verdict Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Protests ensued outside the Texas courtroom throughout the trial which began on June 1.
