Adriano Espaillat and his opponent, Darializa Avila Chevalier \u2014 \u201cwhat do you think will win it all?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho are you rooting for?\u201d Mannarino clarified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like Mexico,\u201d Espaillat, chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, said with a smile.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m rooting for Senegal,\u201d said Chevalier, a \u201cproud member of the NYC Democratic Socialists of America,\u201d according to her campaign page.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p>The U.S.-hosted World Cup began June 11, with international soccer teams and fans coming to the U.S. or tuning in to watch the best teams compete every four years. <strong>(RELATED: ROOKE: World Cup Visitors Make Best Case For Closed Borders)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Neither Espaillat nor Chevalier was given time to explain their answers. Neither of the countries they said they are rooting for has ever won any of the 23 men\u2019s World Cups, and are considered longshots for a total victory, according to online sports betting companies like FanDuel Sportsbook.<\/p>\n<p>And Mannarino\u2019s questioning included not merely who they thought would win, but who they were rooting for. Both Dominican-Americans have no apparent ties to the countries they are rooting for.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_3 --> <\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sHdXlRcw3ZU?si=axtdmzNnjgSQcW-D&amp;start=1249\" width=\"560\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Espaillat and Chevalier are fighting over a district consisting of a 50% Hispanic population, more than double the rate of the rest of New York, according to Census Reporter.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hometransferguide.com\/?p=1856\">Hillary Clinton Blames Biden\u2019s Reelection Bid For Democrats\u2019 Loss In 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Espaillat appears to know where his bread is buttered and seeks to keep this massive voting block by promoting protections for illegal immigrants while granting them a pathway to citizenship, calling for the termination of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and\u00a0 running a Spanish version of his campaign page.<\/p>\n<p>Chevalier aims to run against the more moderate presenting incumbent, gaining endorsements from the likes of fellow Democratic Socialist and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.<\/p>\n<p>After declaring independence from France in 1960, Senegal  itself to be \u201cAfrican Socialist,\u201d and had not achieved its first peaceful transition of power until 2000.<\/p>\n<p>Chevalier\u2019s site\u00a0introduces herself as an \u201cAfro-latina\u201d striving for equity in New York City.
