The ban caused a backlash from residents, who questioned the legality of the decision. <strong>(RELATED: Red State Attorney General Puts Homeowners\u2019 Association On Notice Over Gun Ban)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat if I go out at night and I\u2019m like walking, so if I get mugged, are they now financially responsible because I was not permitted to protect myself in the middle of the street?\u201d an unidentified female resident asked WMBF News after receiving the email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not in an apartment building where you have a lobby that you have to walk through. No, it\u2019s my house. I don\u2019t rent it; I own it,\u201d the resident added.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p>State law requires that certain signs need to be posted in order for concealed carry to be prohibited, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Henry McMaster signed the legislation into law. Prior to that, it was a \u201cshall issue\u201d state when it came to concealed weapons permits.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_3 --> <\/p>\n<p>A similar ban by a HOA in Florida drew fire from Republican Attorney General James Uthmeier in May.<\/p>\n<p>CAMS Management, the company running the HOA of Forest Homes Condominiums, did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Republican South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson and Republican South Carolina Lt. Gov.
