Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni shared a heated video response Friday after President Donald Trump claimed that she had \u201cbegged\u201d for a photo with him during the G7 summit in France earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Meloni denied the claims, saying that Trump\u2019s recounting of their interaction had been \u201ctotally invented\u201d and that she was \u201cfrankly stunned\u201d that Trump would act this way toward an ally.<\/p>\n

She continued, saying that it\u2019s unfortunate that Trump \u201cdoesn\u2019t show the same determination\u201d with enemies of the U.S. and the West, adding that he tends to be \u201cmore accommodating\u201d toward those people. \u201cI and Italy never beg,\u201d Meloni concluded, according to a translation of her Italian response.<\/p>\n

Trump told Italian journalist Daniele Compatangelo that the interaction had taken place at the G7 summit in France on Tuesday, according to TG LA 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cMeloni was happy that we talked; I didn\u2019t have to. She begged me to take a picture with her. She wanted it so badly \u2026 I wouldn\u2019t have taken it. I felt sorry for her,\u201d Trump said before attacking Europe\u2019s energy and immigration policies.<\/p>\n

Videos of Trump and Meloni\u2019s interactions have been circulating on social media, some accompanied by comments praising the Italian prime minister as strong. In contrast, others say she looks like she is fighting for the president\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

A 20-second video shows Meloni speaking with Trump; although the audio does not capture her words, she is seen gesturing with her hands as Trump silently nods, looks around the room, and then moves toward his seat.<\/p>\n

Another video, presumably after the meeting, shows Meloni leaning against a chair as she waits for Trump to finish speaking with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.<\/p>\n

A final video shows a separate interaction between the two, with Meloni and Trump sitting on a couch and talking before Trump stands up, shakes her hand, pats her on the shoulder, and walks away.<\/p>\n

Meloni\u2019s party, Fratelli d\u2019Italia, agreed with her sentiment that Trump should find more courage in standing up to the enemies of the West.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiorgia and Italy don\u2019t beg anyone,\u201d the party continued. \u201cAlways standing tall and with heads held high.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conservative political commentator Ryan James Girdusky\u00a0responded <\/span>to the party\u2019s statement, saying, \u201cThis is a popular stance in Italy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Girdusky also stated that \u201cTrump is very unpopular in Italy,\u201d and suggested that Meloni, whose coalition partners are struggling in the polls, may benefit from purposely distancing herself from Trump, whom he described as \u201ctoxic in Europe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Responses also came from other Italian leaders, including Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who announced that he had canceled his planned trip to the U.S. in response to Trump\u2019s \u201cserious and offensive words,\u201d which he said offended all of Italy. Matteo Salvini, Italy\u2019s deputy prime minister, minister of infrastructure and transport, and leader of the country\u2019s populist party, Lega, said that an attack on Meloni is an attack on all of Italy.<\/p>\n
