Music mogul Clive Davis died Monday at his Manhattan home at the age of 94.<\/p>\n

The legendary producer and music executive oversaw the careers of a long list of famous artists including Whitney Houston, Sean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs, Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen and Kelly Clarkson.<\/p>\n

His cause of death was not disclosed in The New York Times\u2019 announcement of his passing.<\/p>\n

TMZ previously reported that David was hospitalized in New York City on May 29.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson told the outlet that he was facing an upper respiratory infection and was hospitalized due to an abundance of caution.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Every indication suggested he would be released fairly quickly, the spokesperson said at the time. It\u2019s not clear what led to the star\u2019s health decline in the days leading up to his passing.<\/p>\n

He launched the careers of some of the music industry\u2019s most iconic artists, leaving a lasting impression on the landscape of music across multiple genres.<\/p>\n

In 1974, Davis transitioned from Columbia Pictures\u2019 record and music division to Arista Records and enlisted some of the top artists to emerge from the \u201980s. He was pivotal in bringing together L.A. Reid and Babyface to create LaFace Records, recruiting a list of artists that included TLC, Toni Braxton, Usher, Pink, and OutKast.<\/p>\n

In the mid \u201990s, they worked with Sean Combs for the evolution of Bad Boy Records, which developed the careers of Notorious B.I.G., and Faith Evans. (RELATED: Influential Economist Alan Greenspan Dead At 100)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Davis was honored for his exceptional contributions with an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.<\/p>\n

That same year he left Arista and founded J Records, where he helped launch Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, and jointly with Octone Records, the incredible Maroon 5, led by Adam Levine.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for Clive and Columbia Records in 1972, Earth, Wind & Fire as you know it today just wouldn\u2019t be here on this level,\u201d Ralph Johnson, a band member, told USA TODAY in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had vision, and it was his vision in conjunction with [band founder] Maurice White\u2019s vision that made it happen. It was one of the greatest relationships ever.\u201d<\/p>\n
