A security guard fired a stun gun into a patron\u2019s face at point-blank range outside a Southern California venue, and a witness caught the attack on video.<\/p>\n

The footage shows a shirtless man standing inches from the uniformed guard outside Park 101 in Carlsbad Village. The guard raises the weapon, aims at the man\u2019s head, and fires. The man drops to the sidewalk and writhes in pain. Bystanders rush over to help as he crawls along the concrete. The incident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the New York Post.<\/p>\n

Officers on patrol nearby responded after witnesses flagged them down. They watched video of the alleged assault and arrested the guard, identified as 42-year-old David Marquez of San Marcos. Marquez was booked on two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and assault with a stun gun, according to TMZ. Marquez posted $30,000 bail and walked free Thursday. He is due in court July 2, according to 10News.<\/p>\n

The venue had drawn a crowd for a World Cup watch party when the confrontation broke out. One patron described watching the guard fire after the man had already started to leave.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had already basically left the establishment. And the security guard was still having some kind of altercation with him and then just point blank shot at him straight in the face and you can see the guy just fall to his knees, holding his face,\u201d Kendall Johnson said, according to 10News.<\/p>\n

An Instagram user posted the clip, and it spread fast across social media. SanDiegoVille later obtained a second video that appears to show an earlier confrontation involving the same guard.<\/p>\n

Park 101 cut ties with Marquez and the security vendor that staffed him. A co-owner called the video deeply disturbing and said it does not reflect the venue or its establishments. The venue is reviewing how it selects, vets, staffs, and trains event security, according to the New York Post.<\/p>\n
