A federal grand jury is investigating a wealthy American businessman who lives in China for bankrolling left-wing activist groups across the U.S.<\/p>\n

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche authorized the investigation into Singham\u2019s alleged wire fraud, bank fraud and money laundering from his Shanghai-based financial network to a Goldman Sachs philanthropy and other shell companies. The Department of Justice is examining roughly $278 million that flowed through his wife\u2019s group Code Pink as well as The People\u2019s Forum, Tricontinental Institute for Social Research, BreakThrough BT Media, and other entities, Fox News Digital first reported Monday.<\/p>\n

Singham\u2019s \u201cRed Web\u201d includes 223 transactions that used 67 groups in his network to transfer $591 million across five continents and push pro-China messaging, Fox News Digital reported in March. A Goldman Sachs spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation that Singham\u2019s donor-advised fund there was closed in early 2024.<\/p>\n

An official House Oversight Committee investigation from June 2025 accused Singham, who lives in Shanghai, of funding the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL), a Marxist political party.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201c[T]he Committee is concerned that you may be engaging in such activities on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) \u2014 and that your activity may violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act \u2026 and other federal laws,\u201d the letter .<\/p>\n

Singham\u2019s now-wife Jodie Evans co-founded Code Pink: Women for Peace in 2002. The far-left feminist group is \u201cworking to end U.S. warfare and imperialism\u201d with the help of \u201cgenerous donors,\u201d according to the organization\u2019s \u201cAbout\u201d page. Code Pink has received at least $1.4 million from Singham\u2019s network since 2017, according to the New York Times.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201c[T]he Committee is concerned with Code Pink\u2019s funding arrangements, potential funding by foreign nationals, and purported connections with the CCP,\u201d a from the House Committee on Natural Resources stated in November 2023.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cFascism is capitalism in crisis, its mask dropped. The real struggle was never between three systems but between two: socialism and capitalism, with fascism as capitalism\u2019s emergency response to revolutionary threat,\u201d Singham said in his study \u201cThe 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the World Anti-Fascist War.\u201d<\/p>\n

The study was presented\u00a0 by the Tricontinental Institute at a November 2025 conference, a CCP-backed organization whose agenda details how \u201cproponents of the free market (conservatives and liberals alike) and \u2026 of social democracy\u201d are \u201cmonsters\u201d promoting \u201cthe wretchedness of contemporary capitalism.\u201d Singham is chairman of the institute\u2019s International Advisory Board.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about time [Singham] is brought to justice and he is held accountable for his ties to the CCP,\u201d Rep. Jason Smith, Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, wrote in a Monday post to X.<\/p>\n

The probe is still ongoing in the Southern District of New York, and no charges have been filed as of Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
