Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez smiled and blushed on camera as she learned that Vice President JD Vance said he expected her to be the frontrunner for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination.<\/p>\n

The clip, shared by MeidasTouch on Tuesday, shows the young democratic socialist taking questions from reporters outside the Capitol before she\u2019s asked about Vance. (RELATED: Socialist Upsets Dem Congresswoman Who First Took Office The Year She Was Born)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cJD Vance just said in an interview that he thinks you are going to be the leading Democratic candidate for president in 2028,\u201d one reporter asked as AOC\u2019s flushed cheeks turned into a toothy smile. \u201cWhat\u2019s your response to that?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean \u2026 um \u2026 you know \u2026 uh \u2026,\u201d AOC stumbled through her response, looking down with a wide grin and subtly biting her lower lip.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope he is. That\u2019s what I\u2019ll say,\u201d she concluded before taking off away from the reporters and the Capitol.<\/p>\n

The reporter called out, asking her to clarify whether she meant that she hoped Vance would serve as the Republican nominee, to which AOC shouted, \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vance recently sat down\u00a0with Daily Wire host Michael Knowles to discuss the vice president\u2019s new book, \u201cCommunion,\u201d which documents his faith journey from Protestant to atheist to Catholic.<\/p>\n

Near the end of the interview, Knowles asked Vance who he believed would be the leading Democrat in the next presidential election.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s got to be AOC. I know that\u2019s probably conventional wisdom,\u201d Vance responded, drawing a little pushback from Knowles, who said the obvious choice would have been Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I don\u2019t buy that,\u201d Vance said, adding that Newsom had hurt his chances by telling a room full of black people that he, like them, had a low IQ.<\/p>\n

He added that he is \u201cfundamentally pessimistic about the Dems,\u201d saying a socially pragmatic left focused on economic populism would stand a far better chance than relying on \u201ccrazy people,\u201d specifically citing AOC\u2019s calls to \u201ctax the rich and give all the money to transgender baseball players who prey on your kids.\u201d (RELATED: Lawmakers Kill Legislation Barring Convicted Pedophiles From Running For Office)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cHalf of that equation is very politically popular. The part where you allow those same billionaires that you\u2019re taxing to get rich by selling unlicensed pharmaceutical products to 12-year-old minors to gender transition them? That\u2019s the part that makes most Americans go, \u2018What the hell are you talking about?’\u201d Vance said. \u201cAnd, by the way, are you actually against the rich when your social values and your cultural values happen to align with the CEOs of nearly every major corporation?\u201d<\/p>\n
