The lawsuit also claims that \u201cas a natural result, OpenAI\u2019s nascent hardware business now rests on the shakiest of foundations, rotten to its core by its illegal reliance on misappropriated trade secrets.\u201d <span><strong>(RELATED: Here Are 4 Major Lawsuits That Have Shaped The Artificial Intelligence Debate)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Neither Apple nor OpenAI immediately responded to the Daily Caller News Foundation\u2019s requests for comment. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cApple has invested hundreds of billions of dollars and decades of effort in developing groundbreaking consumer hardware products like iPhone, Apple Watch, and MacBook, along with the business acumen and infrastructure to bring them to market at scale,\u201d according to the court filing. \u201cThis sustained and focused investment of time, talent, and resources has produced engineering breakthroughs, manufacturing and supply chain innovations, and a global network of strategic partnerships\u2014all built on confidentiality and trust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBehind the scenes, Apple keeps its product development, manufacturing, supply chain, technology research, and other innovations confidential,\u201d the filing continues. \u201cThe trade secrets spanning Apple\u2019s hardware operations collectively constitute one of the most valuable intellectual assets in all of American business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p>Apple added that it \u201ctakes the confidentiality of its trade secrets seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the rare situation where Apple becomes aware that its confidential information may have been compromised\u2014by a third party, a partner, an employee, or anyone else\u2014it investigates and works to contain and resolve any issues,\u201d the filing reads. \u201cThis case arises from such an investigation.
