The jury subpoenaed the court-appointed federal monitor Neil Barofsky, who oversees the union as part of the probe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what happens when you go against corporate America and their allies, and I\u2019m not going to be intimidated or harassed out of serving our membership,\u201d Fain said, according to the New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>UAW Vice President Rich Boyer initially accused Fain of abusing his position of authority and denied approval of Fain\u2019s requested benefits, a monitor status report . <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]he Monitor has concluded that none of the seven stated reasons offered by Fain justified the removal of Boyer\u2019s Stellantis oversight and that, instead, Fain\u2019s actions were improper and fit into what has become a recurring pattern of retaliation,\u201d the report stated.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p>Fain, who is running for reelection as UAW president this year against Boyer, revoked Boyer\u2019s role as lead negotiator with Stellantis, The Detroit News reported in May 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Fain claimed he is the victim of \u201cbogus allegations,\u201d the New York Times reported. The most reasonable conclusion is that he is playing political games and abusing his power,\u201d Fain wrote in a statement, CNBC reported.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Justice and the UAW each did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation\u2019s request for comment. <\/p>\n<p>Fain further claimed Barofsky holds a \u201cpolitical grudge\u201d due to the UAW\u2019s anti-war position on the Gaza conflict, Bloomberg reported. Barofsky personally called Fain after the union backed a Gaza ceasefire in December 2023, and he forwarded the board a letter from the Anti-Defamation League condemning a local UAW\u2019s statement on the conflict, according to The Detroit News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The monitor report] substantiated the claim that President Fain acted improperly to obtain financial benefits for his fianc\u00e9e, and that Vice President Boyer\u2019s failure to approve the bonus may have contributed to Fain\u2019s retaliatory action against him,\u201d Barofsky\u2019s monitor report stated. <\/p>\n<p>Fain became one of organized labor\u2019s most prominent Democratic allies during the 2024 presidential election, endorsing then-Vice President Kamala Harris and speaking at the Democratic National Convention.
