Chelsea Handler has rushed in to defend people who didn\u2019t need defending.<\/p>\n

Handler ripped into Shane Gillis and Tony Hinchcliffe, accusing them of making offensive jokes during \u201cThe Roast Of Kevin Hart.\u201d<\/p>\n

She claimed their jokes were \u201cracist\u201d and \u201cgross,\u201d and rose to the defense of blacks who were at the brunt of the jabs \u2014 only to discover they didn\u2019t feel offended at all. At least one of the black comedians that Handler thought she was defending appears to have made it clear that no actual offense was ever taken.<\/p>\n

Appearing on the May 20 episode of Deon Cole\u2019s podcast \u201cFunny Knowing You,\u201d Handler described Gillis and Hinchcliffe by saying, \u201cthey\u2019re racist, that they\u2019re bigots, that they\u2019re sexist,\u201d before accusing them of thinking \u201cthey\u2019re invincible.\u201d She called out jokes about lynching, and humor pointed directly at Sheryl Underwood\u2019s husband, who died by suicide.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Handler attempted to defend Underwood against the jokes, Underwood appeared on Gillis\u2019 podcast and reaffirmed that she didn\u2019t take offense to any of the jabs.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes humor is the thing,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s the most uncomfortable humor that lessens the tension and the stress.\u201d<\/p>\n

Handler fired off by saying, \u201cIt was gross. I don\u2019t find those jokes to be funny \u2014 jokes about lynching black people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLynching is not a joke. That\u2019s worse than rape. You\u2019re not joking about rape, are you? \u2026 You know you can\u2019t do that, but you can say \u2018lynching\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI found them making fun of Sheryl Underwood\u2019s dead husband who committed suicide [gross].<\/p>\n

\u201cIf she says she\u2019s fine with that, she\u2019s fine with that. I wasn\u2019t fine with that. I thought that was disgusting too,\u201d Handler said.<\/p>\n

Notably, Handler has been criticized for using her sexual preference for and fetishization of black men as a means of shielding herself from racism allegations regarding her own jokes. In 2014, the female comedian was confronted by George Stephanopoulos over a \u201ctasteless\u201d social media\u00a0 piggybacking off of Lupita Nyong\u2019o\u2019s Best Supporting Actress Oscar win for \u201c12 Years a Slave.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations #12yearsaslave,\u201d she wrote. \u201cGo to Africa or buy #ugandabekiddingme http:\/\/amzn.to\/1de1ka9 #aheadofthecurve #Oscars,\u201d Handler wrote on social media at the time.<\/p>\n

According to ABC News, Handler \u2014 speaking with Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America \u2014 declared, \u201cI\u2019m not a racist\u2026 I date a lot of black people. So that would be a difficult thing to explain to them.\u201d<\/p>\n
