Rand Paul has released parts of Dr. Anthony Fauci\u2019s private diary revealing some of what he really believed during the COVID-19 pandemic. <\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hometransferguide.com\/?p=3848\">GOP Louisiana Sen John Kennedy Says Bailing on Iran War Would Be A \u2018Huge, Huge Mistake\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Fauci, who served as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases during President Trump\u2019s first term, recounted a February 1, 2020  call with several high-level scientists who were divided over the possibility of \u201cdeliberate insertion,\u201d the idea that Wuhan lab workers intentionally added a protein spike, genetically engineering the COVID virus. <\/p>\n<p>Some of the scientists believed that deliberate insertion was possible considering how Dr. Zheng-Li Shi of the University of Wuhan had worked for years on gain of function research in coronaviruses in an effort \u201cto allow adaptation of the spike protein to bind to the human ACE2 receptor,\u201d Fauci recalled. \u201cWe could not let this go<strong>,\u201d <\/strong>Fauci added. <\/p>\n<p>A day before the conference call, scientists reported concerns that the \u201cspike protein could not have occurred naturally since it would require an evolutionary jump that they found nowhere in bat isolates,\u201d according to his diary. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey bring up the possibility that this could have been deliberately inserted and either accidentally released or deliberately released by a crazy person in the lab, the former being the most likely,\u201d Fauci wrote. \u201cNow we know the market was not the source, it was the amplifier.\u201d <strong>(RELATED: The Fauci Files: Five Explosive Findings Declassified By Tulsi Gabbard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hometransferguide.com\/?p=3846\">Nick Fuentes, Hunter Biden Try To Save Face In Interview<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p>Despite taking the possibility of deliberate engineering of the COVID virus seriously in private, his tune was much different in public. Months after his conference call, Fauci completely wrote off such concerns in a May 2020 interview with National Geographic, calling the lab leak claims \u201ccircular arguments.\u201d Sen. Paul pointed out that \u201cFauci said the virus was \u2018totally consistent\u2019 with an animal-to-human jump.\u201d Other scientists and health leaders in Fauci\u2019s circle, however, were more skeptical. <\/p>\n<p>Sen. Paul has been targeting Dr. Fauci regarding the origins of COVID-19 for years, demanding the declassification of official COVID-era documents and communications connected to Fauci. The two have verbally sparred at congressional hearings over Fauci\u2019s alleged suppression of the lab leak theory.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Fauci will testify next Wednesday in front of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee after being subpoenaed, and will face panel Chair Sen.
