The now-dead suspect, 21-year-old German citizen of Lebanese-decent, Abdul B., was shot and killed by special unit police officers (SEK) in Berlin Sunday after he allegedly charged members of German law enforcement with a knife, NBC News reported. Police identified him as the main suspect behind the Saturday attacks at the Berlin pride celebrations, where he allegedly drove a vehicle into a crowd of people and attacked others with a bladed weapon.<\/p>\n

One woman was killed and 29 others were injured. <\/p>\n

Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Berlin for the pride celebrations. The pride festival in the German capitol is one of the largest of its kind in Europe, NBC noted. (RELATED: Trump Moves To Legitimize Ex-Jihadist Leader\u2019s Regime)<\/strong> <\/p>\n

German authorities described the suspect as having been \u201cradicalized\u201d and a member of \u201cIslamist circles,\u201d the outlet noted. \u201cEverything we are seeing here indicates that we have experienced an Islamist attack,\u201d German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt told journalists at a press conference Sunday.<\/p>\n

Abdul B. did have a criminal background and had been sentenced to 10 months in a Berlin prison, Dobrindt said, It is unclear what crime he had committed. <\/p>\n

Once the suspect was identified, a manhunt ensued. <\/p>\n

The man was found around 6 p.m. Sunday at an allotment garden complex in the westernmost section of Berlin, the outlet noted. <\/p>\n

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz publicly denounced the attacks at the pride festival in Berlin as \u201ca heinous act.\u201d<\/p>\n
