Mikie Sherrill disclosed the error last week, claiming the state discovered that a \u201cserious software error\u201d registered \u201croughly 6,600 [noncitizens]\u201d as voters between June 2023 and June 2024. The governor\u2019s office also claimed \u201cfewer than 400\u201d of the thousands of registered illegal aliens voted. She blamed the error on the administration of her immediate predecessor, Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, and said the illegal voter registrations are being removed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrats have repeatedly said that non-citizen voting doesn\u2019t happen. It happened. Is this a problem?\u201d Bash asked Jeffries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that I continue to have confidence in state and local authorities in making sure that there\u2019s going to be a free and fair election in November,\u201d he replied, \u201cand, if modest or minor challenges emerge, such as the one that was disclosed voluntarily by the authorities in New Jersey, that it is immediately corrected. Tim Kaine, however, addressed the New Jersey registration issue on \u201cFox News Sunday.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[T]his was a very unfortunate glitch. Importantly, it wasn\u2019t that individuals were trying to vote illegally,\u201d Kaine told host Shannon Bream. \u201cThere was a computer glitch that, when they registered for driver\u2019s licenses and said they were non-citizens, the glitch got them mistakenly classified as citizens and registered them to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" allowfullscreen=\"\" class=\"rumble\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/embed\/v7b44m6\/?pub=3rtroj\" width=\"640\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Kaine argued the answer lies with the states rather than Washington, and pointed to his own state\u2019s requirements. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the right answer here is voter ID laws passed at the state level,\u201d Kaine said. \u201cVirginia has a voter ID law that\u2019s sort of been acceptable.
