Jane Kleeb, president of left-wing environmental group Bold Alliance and Nebraska Democratic Party chairwoman, compared Nelson\u2019s role in the wave of protests to that of the Star Wars character Yoda, according to Axios.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last thing we need is a loud, water thieving, light polluting, data center anywhere near our town (or any others for that matter),\u201d Nelson said in a July 28 Instagram post. \u201cAll of America deserves thoughtful stewardship that doesn\u2019t steal farmland \u2026 and small family farmers\u2019 livelihoods, and not data centers that only destroy the environment around them.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><svg><g><g><g><\/g><\/g><\/g><\/svg><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>View this post on Instagram<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div> <\/div>\n<div> <\/div>\n<div> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div> <\/div>\n<p>A post shared by Willie Nelson (@willienelsonofficial)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe always listen to our Yoda,\u201d Kleeb said about Nelson, according to Axios.<\/p>\n<p>Kleeb is a vocal advocate for data center reform, according to her February testimony to Nebraska lawmakers.<strong>(RELATED: Democrat Governor Accuses Trump Admin Of Steamrolling Him On Data Center Plans)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201c<\/strong>Data centers are the essential digital infrastructure behind every online purchase, telehealth appointment, online news article, and digital classroom, not just Artificial Intelligence,\u201d Dan Diorio, executive vice president of state policy and government affairs for the Data Center Coalition (DCC), told the Daily Caller News Foundation. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Data Center Coalition will continue to work with residents, localities, and policymakers to ensure the sustainable use of water, energy, and other natural resources, while promoting the continued responsible development of this important 21st-century industry,\u201d Diorio added.<\/p>\n<p>The DCC cast the industry as an economic engine, citing 5.5 million jobs and $1.7 trillion in GDP nationally in 2024, Diorio told the DCNF. Data centers pay their full energy costs, Diorio said, pointing to research from E3 and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_3 --> <\/p>\n<p>Shock Ink, Willie Nelson\u2019s public relations firm, referred the DCNF to Nelson\u2019s social media statement when asked to clarify his stance on data centers. <\/p>\n<p>The Bold Alliance and the Nebraska Democratic Party each did not immediately respond to the DCNF\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hometransferguide.com\/?p=4444\">Retail Sales Suffer Biggest Drop In More Than A Year As Iran War Casts Shadow Over Economy<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is not a better way to be relevant that is as prevalent as data centers,\u201d Kleeb said, E&amp;E News reported. \u201cAfter doing this work for 20 years, it is easier to mobilize communities to block something than it is to build something.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kleeb began her tenure as Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party in December 2016, according to the Nebraska Democratic Party biography page.<\/p>\n<p>The Nebraska Democrat was a central organizer of rural opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline, according to The New York Times. She persuaded conservative farmers and ranchers they would shoulder the risks of Canada\u2019s energy ambitions. <\/p>\n<p>Nelson similarly objected to the pipeline and held a 2014 concert in Nebraska to rally against it. \u201cFor 29 years, corporations have continued to take the land away from the small family farmers, and this is what we\u2019re here to fight against,\u201d Nelson said at the concert, according to Axios.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been supporting Democrats all my life,\u201d Nelson said on The View in Sept. 2018. <\/p>\n<p>The data center industry, meanwhile, says it is working to address local backlash. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in the process of honing in on how to better demonstrate our commitments to these principles for responsible development,\u201d Diorio told Axios.
