Brigance, who was also a longtime advisor in player engagement for the franchise, has passed away 19 years following his ALS diagnosis. Brigance,\u201d said Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti in an official statement, per ESPN. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cO.J. was a beloved legend, mentor and man to everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. His infectious smile and the inspirational way he lived and played endeared him to everyone he touched, both inside our building and across this city. However, Brigance was seemingly undeterred, consistently providing a smile in his motorized wheelchair whether it was through the Ravens\u2019 team facility hallways or being in attendance for practices and games.<\/p>\n<p>John Harbaugh, a former head coach of Baltimore, referenced Brigance as \u201cthe strongest man in the organization\u201d on numerous occasions, according to ESPN.<\/p>\n<p>In 2001, Brigance had the first tackle for the Ravens during their Super Bowl win against the New York Giants. He was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig\u2019s Disease, around six years later.
