The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) established the new rules in response to Australian DJ Josh Fawaz\u2019s cover of Madonna\u2019s \u201cLike A Prayer,\u201d which was created using generative AI, BBC reported. The cover song reached number two on Australia\u2019s overall singles chart, #1 on ARIA\u2019s Dance Singles chart and more than 48 million Spotify streams before the Australian ban. <\/p>\n

The association\u2019s rules state that a song will not be featured in ARIA Charts if it is \u201cnot substantially human created, including where artificial intelligence is used to generate the entirety or the primary portion of the creative elements of the Title or Product,\u201d ARIA in its Code.(RELATED: American AI Chips Now Power Russian Killer Drones)<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThese changes reflect our intent to remain dynamic and promote the human nature of artistry in what is \u2014 to say the least \u2014 a rapidly developing space,\u201d ARIA chief executive Annabelle Herd said, according to ARIA\u2019s Tuesday announcement. \u201cA chart that rewards unlicensed AI output would undercut the very basis of the recorded music we exist to represent.\u201d<\/p>\n
