Abigail Spanberger is telling her fellow party members it is time to move on from redistricting after her state\u2019s highest court ruled her endorsed gerrymander was unconstitutional.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/hometransferguide.com\/?p=495\">Tulsi Gabbard Resigns As Director Of National Intelligence<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Spanberger told the New York Times in an interview published Friday that it is \u201coutrageously premature\u201d for her fellow Democrats to be focused on redistricting, calling the midterms ahead the \u201cmost consequential midterms\u201d of her lifetime. This comes just a week after the United States Supreme Court declined to take up Virginia Democrats\u2019 appeal following the state\u2019s Supreme Court May 8 ruling that lawmakers violated the state\u2019s constitutional procedural requirements by advancing the pro-gerrymander amendment after early voting had already begun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt is outrageously premature of us to be talking about any sort of redistricting or map-changing effort when we have to win the most consequential midterms of my lifetime this November,\u201d Spanberger told the Times. <strong>(RELATED: <\/strong><\/span><strong>Virginia Supreme Court Strikes Down Democrat Gerrymander Referendum)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>The referendum would have likely resulted in Democrats gaining four more House seats from Virginia, as the lopsided map it approved would have favored Democrats by a 10-1 margin. Virginia voters approved the proposed gerrymander by a narrow margin of four percentage points on April 21 \u2014 after the \u201cyes\u201d campaign received a flood of money, including from groups linked to left-wing billionaire George Soros.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAnytime someone \u2014 whether it\u2019s [House Minority Leader] Hakeem [Jeffries] or anyone else \u2014 talks about some other point off in the future, it is a distraction from the task at hand, which is winning in November,\u201d Spanberger told the Times.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p><span>When it comes to redistricting, the governor noted, \u201cThat time is over now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Before courts nixed it, Spanberger strongly supported the gerrymander \u2014\u00a0which she signed into law herself \u2014 and the \u201cyes\u201d campaign to greenlight it at the ballot box. It is temporary, directly responsive to what other states decide to do, and \u2014 most importantly, it preserves Virginia\u2019s bipartisan redistricting process for the future,\u201d the governor said regarding the referendum in early March, WRIC reported.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_3 --> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat has changed is what we\u2019re seeing in states across the country \u2014 and a President who says he is \u2018entitled\u2019 to more Republican seats before this year\u2019s midterm elections,\u201d she added at the time. \u201cVirginians have the opportunity to take action in response to this extraordinary moment in history. That\u2019s why, as a Virginia voter, I\u2019m voting in favor of this amendment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following the initial approval of the now defunct Spanberger-backed map, Florida and Tennessee approved redistricted maps seeking to add up to a combined five more Republican House seats.
