Federal investigators served subpoenas to Piker and Code Pink\u2019s Medea Benjamin as part of a probe into the \u201cNuestra America Convoy,\u201d according to Fox News. The convoy consisted of a group of North American and European activists who traveled to Havana in March, purportedly to offer humanitarian aid and protest President Donald Trump\u2019s blockade of the island. \u201cIt\u2019s not great,\u201d Piker said during a livestream Sunday afternoon. \u201cThe news is not great, okay? Um, I mean, it\u2019s bullshit. But still not great \u2026 I mean it\u2019s bullshit but still not great that they\u2019re after your boy. They\u2019re up my ass.\u201d<\/p>\n

Piker alleged that he was being politically targeted by the Trump administration for being a \u201cloudmouth\u201d and \u201crabble-rouser\u201d in his criticism of Israel and support for anti-Israel political candidates.<\/p>\n

The subpoena requires Piker to fork over financial, logistical, and communications information related to the trip. Federal officials are reportedly investigating whether Piker and the group he traveled with violated U.S. laws and sanctions against providing support to Cuba\u2019s communist regime.<\/p>\n

Piker was criticized during the trip for staying in a luxury hotel while Cubans experienced nationwide blackouts, though Piker claimed the U.S. sanctions required him to stay in specific five-star hotels. Treasury\u2019s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) prohibits U.S. travelers from staying in lodging owned by the Cuban government or military. The online streamer claims that the trip was fully \u201ccleared by Treasury.\u201d<\/p>\n
