Caleb Shomo, the band\u2019s lead singer, wrote in a post on Instagram that he felt \u201cembarrassed\u201d he avoided the truth for so long and \u201cspent a decade burying feelings with alcohol.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further,\u201d Shomo wrote.\u00a0\u201cI am a proudly gay man. The rockstar\u2019s wife, Fleur Shomo, responded to her husband\u2019s revelation in her own post on Instagram, according to USA Today. \u201cThe past few months have been a very disorientating and hurtful time to navigate,\u201d she reportedly posted. \u201cFor both of us. But I will always want to love, protect and support Caleb. I have cared more about his well being over the years than anything else in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Prior to joining Beartooth, Shomo was a member of the Westerville, Ohio metalcore band Attack Attack!, playing keyboard and synth before taking over as the group\u2019s lead vocalist in 2009.<\/p>\n

In his social media post this past Saturday, the rock singer thanked \u201cthose who have shown me love\u201d and urged \u201canyone who\u2019s struggling with who they are to give yourself grace.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Fluer Shomo noted that her husband\u2019s decision to come out as gay hasn\u2019t been easy, according to USA Today. She reportedly stated in her Instagram post that \u201cto support him whilst losing everything has been incredibly hard to figure out,\u201d and \u201cyou can love and support your person through the hardest time in their life, whilst also be completely demolished & lose yourself at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fluer Shomo concluded, \u201cour nearly 14yrs of marriage was wonderful and full of so much fun, adventure & love\u201d while stating that she already misses her husband but encourages his fanbase to still be supportive of him, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n
