Pauken moved to China around 2010 and called himself a \u201cjournalist\u201d for Chinese state propaganda outlets before federal agents caught onto his alleged activities, the affidavit says. <strong>(RELATED: Mexico Bankrolls Liberal Attorneys Helping Migrant Killers Escape Death Row)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" data-aspect-ratio=\"0.7729220222793488\" data-auto-height=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\" height=\"600\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/embeds\/1043501891\/content?start_page=1&amp;view_mode=scroll&amp;access_key=key-V1WtoD8IexyecKem5a9d\" width=\"100%\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p> Pauken Affidavit  by  Hudson Crozier <\/p>\n<p>Authorities  in Herndon, Virginia, in February and charged him with failing to publicly disclose his pro-China activities under the Foreign Agents Registration Act,\u00a0documents show. U.S. Magistrate Judge Ivan Davis ordered him  in March.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s critical to understand that Mr. Pauken is not charged with spying or mishandling classified information,\u201d Charles Burnham, his attorney, told the Daily Caller News Foundation after publication. \u201cThe government\u2019s complaint charges that Mr. Pauken did professional work for a foreign government without first completing certain required paperwork. We look forward to responding to the government\u2019s allegations in court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Customs and Border Protection and the FBI interviewed Pauken on his foreign ties in January 2025 when he came from China to Washington Dulles International Airport.<\/p>\n<p>Pauken\u2019s January 2025 trip was partly for the purpose of meeting with an unnamed person looking to work for the new Trump administration after meeting the individual at a 2023 political event in Washington, he allegedly told agents.
