He was <span> hired in May 2022 to oversee policing reforms in Minneapolis following George Floyd\u2019s death and the subsequent city riots, <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Minneapolis still has 17 open allegations of misconduct against O\u2019Hara and will continue to investigate them, said Jennifer Lor, a spokeswoman for the mayor\u2019s office, according to The Associated Press.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Frey nominated O\u2019Hara for a second term as police chief at the beginning of May, although several complaints had already been made against O\u2019Hara alleging that he was engaging in sexual relationships with city employees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_2 --> <\/p>\n<p><span>Reporters pushed Frey about the year-long timespan between the first allegations and O\u2019Hara\u2019s resignation, as well as Frey\u2019s decision not to fire the police chief. <\/span><b>(RELATED: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Remembers George Floyd Ahead Of Troops On Memorial Day)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe did not know then what we do know now,\u201d Frey said. \u201cIf I had known earlier, I would not have renominated him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Allegations against O\u2019Hara were submitted to the mayor\u2019s office beginning in May 2025. Frey said the claims were not substantiated after \u201ctons of witnesses were interviewed\u201d by a private investigator hired to handle the case. The investigations were closed and released to the public in the summer of 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/10519169\/dailycaller_incontent_3 --> <\/p>\n<p><span>A new investigation opened in May 2026 discovered that O\u2019Hara had likely \u201cknowingly and intentionally\u201d interfered with the probe into his conduct.
