Social media users across the political spectrum are casting serious doubts on a new Axios report claiming President Donald Trump cursed out Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.<\/p>\n

Axios reported Monday that Trump \u201clashed out\u201d at Netanyahu during a phone call concerning Israel\u2019s threat to bomb Beirut, Lebanon, and the Israel Defense Force\u2019s invasion of Southern Lebanon amid a fragile U.S.-Iran ceasefire. One anonymous official, \u201csummarizing\u201d the phone call, claimed Trump told Netanyahu, \u201cYou\u2019re fucking crazy. You\u2019d be in prison if it weren\u2019t for me. I\u2019m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this.\u201d Axios also reported that Trump \u201creined in\u201d Netanyahu and convinced him to scrap the plans to bomb Beirut and Hezbollah targets.<\/p>\n

However, many people aren\u2019t buying it.<\/p>\n

Progressive \u201cBreaking Points\u201d host Krystal Ball compared the new Axios story to\u00a0nearly identical stories leaked\u00a0during former President Joe Biden\u2019s administration.\u00a0Biden had reportedly described Netanyahu as a \u201cbad f*cking guy\u201d and an \u201casshole,\u201d all while his administration\u00a0continued to green-light\u00a0U.S. weapons sales to Israel. <\/span>(RELATED: <\/strong><\/span>\u2018This Conversation Is Over\u2019: Biden Reportedly Hung Up On Netanyahu After Heated Phone Call)<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Fox News host Mark Levin claimed the story was \u201clargely fabricated\u201d and called for one of its authors, Barak Ravid, to be fired.<\/p>\n

Amit Segal, a correspondent for Israel news outlet N12, reported that the Axios story was \u201cinaccurate.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Independent journalist Caitlin Johnstone accused Ravid of making a \u201cwhole career\u201d out of Biden-era leaks suggesting the former president was fed up with Netanyahu or on the verge of making an ultimatum to the Israeli prime minister.<\/p>\n

Dave DeCamp, news editor at antiwar.com, pointed to a report that the U.S. had coordinated with Israel in its threat to attack Beirut.<\/p>\n

Progressive journalist Mark Ames joked that Trump was \u201cBrandonmaxxing,\u201d a reference to Biden\u2019s nickname coined by conservatives early in his term.<\/p>\n

For his part, Trump claimed that he acted as an intermediary between Israel and Hezbollah and prevented further attacks from happening Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a very productive call with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, of Israel, and there will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,\u201d he said\u00a0in a Truth Social post. \u201cLikewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop \u2014 That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n
