Bystander video circulating on social media appears to show furious residents demanding that officers leave while a suspect sat on a curb. WAMU 88.5 senior politics reporter Alex Koma identified the location as Lamont Plaza.

The situation intensified when an officer alleged someone was approaching with a baseball bat. Officers drew their weapons and one ordered the individual to drop the alleged bat.

“Put down the bat! Put down the bat now!” an officer can be heard yelling.

“You’re threatening our neighbors!” a woman’s voice shouts, according to the footage. “You don’t know the people that live here!”

No injuries were reported and the person who allegedly wielded the bat was not arrested, NBC4 Washington reported.

The Daily Caller reached out to the U.S. Parks Police for comment but did not receive a response before publication. A U.S. Parks Police spokesperson did not comment on Ramos’ apprehension to NBC4 Washington.

Trump created the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task force in an executive order in March 2025. This increased law enforcement presence has resulted in over 13,100 arrests, according to a Department of Justice (DOJ) report updated on May 21.

Homicides have dropped by 50% and overall crime by 25% in 2026, according to the report. The DOJ said this continues a downward trajectory in crime started in 2025.
