Airliner’s Nose Gear ‘Unexpectedly Retracts’ At Airport, Injuring Multiple People
A Boeing 787’s nose gear collapsed Thursday while the plane was at the gate in Frankfurt, Germany, resulting in several injuries to crew.

“The aircraft’s nose gear unexpectedly retracted while it was parked,” Lufthansa told the Daily Caller. “Solely crew members and ground staff were on board” when the plane collapsed. “Two Lufthansa cabin crew members and other employees from service providers were taken to a hospital for medical treatment.”
All other members of the crew are “doing well under the circumstances.”
Video posted to social media shows the aircraft sitting on its nose as the landing gear go out.
The airline does not know the reason for the crash as of Thursday afternoon.
“Experts are currently on site and inspecting the aircraft,” according to the airline. The plane had not yet boarded, and was preparing for LH450 to Los Angeles. The flight has been canceled.
The Boeing 787-9 was built in Charleston, North Carolina in April 2025. The flight to Los Angeles would have been the specific plane’s 10th flight.
