Bryce Harper Denies Knowing FanDuel Video Would Be Used To Support Gambling

Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper broke his silence on the viral video of his personalized message to a sports bettor in a social media post Monday.

“What happened here went beyond anything I knew about or approved,” Harper said in the post.

Harper explained that he received a request for the video via Cameo, an online marketplace where fans can buy personalized videos from notable figures. In his statement, Harper repeatedly said he had no knowledge of how the video would be used.

“I did not know the Cameo video would be used for a FanDuel VIP promotion, and I have no affiliation with FanDuel whatsoever,” Harper said.

Harper went on to say, “Counsel has directed me not to comment any further at this time.”

The video was sent to Terry Thompson, a bettor who has lost more than $1.5 million. Thompson has filed a lawsuit against FanDuel and DraftKings, according to the New York Post.
