The image showed him with the raccoon while it held a bottle of whiskey. The soccer superstar captioned the post, “It followed me home 🦝🤣.” He also asked fans to help him name the raccoon in an Instagram story.

Haaland offered fans the names Cowboy, Ranger, TEX, and R.O.W. — an acronym for Racoon On Wheels — as options. He bought the raccoon at Wild Bill’s Western Shore in Dallas, Texas, where it typically retails for $750, according to Fox 4. Shortly after the post, Wild Bill’s sold out of the now-famous decoration. The shop now uses the photo of Haaland carrying the raccoon as the reference image in its online store.

Throughout Norway’s historic World Cup run, Haaland went viral for seemingly falling in love with America. It was After Norway defeated Ivory Coast that he visited Wild Bill’s, Fox 4 reported. He loved the cowboy gear and went viral for wearing a shirt that said, “You can kiss my Dallas.” It wasn’t only the culture Haaland appreciated, but also the people.

“I think it’s a good thing because I like the Americans. I think they are kind of hilarious as well. They are funny. So I like the way they are,” Haaland said, according to Yahoo Sports’ Instagram.

He continued, “It’s been — honestly — on every single thing with the World Cup here so far has been amazing. From games, to the stadiums, to — everything has been amazing.”

Norway had its most successful World Cup in the nation’s history, making it to the quarterfinals for the first time since 1998. The Norwegian team and their fans also went viral for doing the “Viking Row” seemingly everywhere they went.

Haaland described the World Cup as life-changing.

“I think this has changed my life, to be honest,” he said per ESPN.
