Tennessee’s Arion Carter Suspended 2 Games By NCAA For $427 Plane Ticket Despite Players Getting Paid Millions

Tennessee Volunteers linebacker Arion Carter has been suspended by the NCAA for two games after he accepted a $427 plane ticket from an NFL agent following him declaring for the draft. Carter will miss the first two games of the 2026 season.

From Smyrna, Tennessee, the senior competed near the end of 2025 with a foot injury, which was aggravated following his declaration for the draft. In an official statement, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said that Carter ended his connection with the agent and also paid back the $427 for the January flight.

“NCAA rules are clear: student-athletes may not sign with agents to pursue NFL draft opportunities, and this student-athlete knowingly violated those longstanding rules,” said the NCAA in its own statement, per ESPN. “When student-athletes violate NCAA rules, the school declares them ineligible and works with the national office to determine requirements for reinstatement, which can include repayment and/or withholding from competition.”

This doesn’t even make sense to me considering that players are openly getting paid millions of dollars, and not just that, but schools are openly spending millions of dollars to pull in said players.

So, why on earth are we making a big deal about a $427 plane ticket?

We all know why, it’s because the NCAA is obsessed with power, and this was just another excuse for them to pop off and have a power trip. After all, their “power” is hanging on by a thread, so of course they’re going to take it when they can get it.
